Musical mush transformed

Spending this rainy afternoon listening to some tunes and I feel like I'm all bogged up in musical mush. I've heard some good tracks, but mostly one's where I'm thinking 'what situation would this be good for' or 'maybe I need to crank the bass to feel this properly.' Nothing really stood out until I was about 2 minutes into a song I heard a couple weeks ago that I didn't pay much attention to at the time. This track really made my ears stand at attention today. Oh man, when that bass hits it really gets inside you. Check it out!

As for the musical mush, well it's not all bad. Here's a couple tracks worth listening to. Australia's Ta-ku (you probably heard him from the work he's done with Flume) is releasing a new EP with some delightful, emotion bending tracks. Seem's like he's on a bit of an emotional roller coaster and I laughed a little when I saw these two tracks side by side. The title of the first one was 'I hate you' on Hypem and it was right after 'I miss you'

And his biggest track to date IMO remixed by flume

And a few more bangers for your Sunday eve listening pleasure.

(These guys coming to Vancouver in april!)

Peace friends :)

Friday night Valentine's

It's Friday night and it's Valentines day and if you're like me, neither of these things have any significance. You're working and you're single and you have a bit of spare time to post a few 'love songs' on your blog.

Sideshow Holst
First off here's a video that my obnoxious polish roommate subjected me to this morning. If you see this guy on the streets tonight call the cops. He's dangerous and armed with jokes that will leave you questioning your morals.

I wasn't able to finish yesterday so I'll give you the goods now. Here's an edit by Huglife of Coure de Pirate's (translation: Pirate Heart - not to be confused with Pirate Dick) cover of The Weeknd's "wicked games." As you may have guessed by the artists names, this song's a love trap.

Coure de Pirate
And to continue the valentine's trap theme here's a Baauer remix of Disclosure's "you and me".
and I'll leave you with the ultimate break up song remixed by Hucci. If you need a reason not to date a psycho, well here you go.

Dive in to the deep end...

It's Thursday and it's raining and well, here's a few tracks to keep you low and groovin'. Make sure you have some bass kickin' in your speakers to get the full effect here.

I'm sure most of you have heard Ultraista's "small talk" in some remix or another but here's one more from Justin Martin. There's a tweety bird sampled in here but don't be decieved, this track will drop you to the ground if you're not careful. The Knocks have been on my radar since "something I can dance to" came out and there has been no sign of them letting up. Here's their latest track which will send you straight to the dance floor... or you can pretend your kitchen sink is just a giant pair of moon shoes. Trust me don't "knock" it 'til you try it. And I'll leave you with this track from Disclosure. These guys deserved the grammy for best dance album without a doubt. Not to discredit Daft Punk, they deserved every other grammy they won - but half the tracks on their album weren't even dance music. Does anyone give a shit about the grammy's anyway? Maybe I'll get into this more later. This tracks called "What's in your head" from Disclosure's debut album "Settle"

Trying new things...

Hey Friends!

Starting a simple blog today to share some of the awesome songs I hear coming out of my speakers. Songs that you may not have had the chance to hear that I am grateful for. Most often it's just me that hears these songs then they just get lost in old playlists never to be heard again. They come from everywhere; I might hear them on Hypem or Soundcloud, or at a party, or in a store, at your house, while listening to satellite radio in my taxi, from a friend or DJ, or in a TV show or movie. These songs can come from anywhere and if I like it I'll post it here. Hope you check back often and enjoy the sounds I post here.
From my headphones to you!

Not sure where to start but here let me post a remix from one of my favorite DJ pair's. It's always a treat when these guys produce a track. If you haven't checked them out they are a must see, fun and energetic DJ duo - and usually playing lots of shows throughout Alberta and BC.
